Sweet Jesus, Is It June Yet?: 10 Ways the Gospels Can Help You Combat Teacher Burnout and Rediscover Your Passion for Teaching

I found this to be a nice reminder to any and all teachers who get burned out, discouraged, or just not sure what to do next.

I taught in a Christian school and this book was written from a Catholic teacher's perspective but really none of that matters. As teachers we can all learn lessons from the gospel to help us overcome hurdles.

I felt that all of the author's thoughts were relatable and give encouragement. I would highly recommend this to teachers, no matter what the time of year.

I was given this book by NetGalley and Ave Maria Press. All opinions are my own.

How (Not) To Save The World

This was an inspiring and fun book to read. Saying that, I also felt like this is one of the most powerful book on evangelizing I have read. I always felt that I wasn't doing all I could for God because I do not go out on the mission field. However, the mission field can be at your own doorstep.

We are asked to take care of those around us, just as Jesus did for everyone around him. We are to care and love others as well as share Jesus's love with them. This involves wanting to listen to other's stories and being willing to share your own.

I love the simplicity of this book and the variety of "call out" that are included throughout. These call outs emphasize the high points in a fun way.

I recommend this book most highly for all.

I was given this book by NetGalley and Thomas Nelson--W Publishing. All opinions are my own.

Dwell on These Things

Dwell on These Things Inspiration Cards is a set of 31 cards that spoke to my heart. When I received them, I opened them immediately. The cards have a stand to hold them all and a lovely cardboard box to store or to gift them in.

Each card has a message on one side and a few little words to remind the reader of the message all day. The cards are made of sturdy material and are lovely to look at. Each message is positive and short enough that you can be reminded of it all day.

I think these would be a good gift for anyone.

I was given these cards by Ink and Willow in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Healing Family Relationships

Healing Family Relationships by Rob Rienow is about just what the title says. It is difficult to belong to a family without having some difficulties. The author gives many ideas to help with the healing of these relationships.

Some of the chapters in this book cover how to find healing through prayer, repentance, listening, acceptance, spiritual warfare, boundaries, meditation and more. Each has good strategies along with questions for reflection and discussion. Much of it is a reminder that we cannot change the other person, but we can change ourselves.

The author includes examples from his own life, the Bible and of others.

I recommend this book to anyone who would like to have healing in a relationship in their family.

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishing in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Unshackled: Breaking The Strongholds of Your Past to Receive Complete Deliverance

This book was not what I was expecting, at all. I was looking for a Christian view of being unshackled. Instead, I had an eerie feeling when I began reading it, which is the feeling I get when the book isn't a book I should be reading.

When I received the book, plus other times since, I have tried skimming the book to find positive aspects of the book.

The two parts of the book are Finding Freedom Through Inner Healing and Deliverance and the second is 10 Strongholds. I looked at the 10 strongholds and they include intimidation, addictions, control, grief and loss, pride, victim and poverty mentalities, anger, unworthiness and passivity, rejection. These can be areas where a person can become immersed and need deliverance. I believe that we need God to help us become free from these things. The author kept talking about self-deliverance. I don't know that I agree with her.

I have a hard time recommending this book, as I do not agree with its teachings.

One Small Step: The Life-Changing Adventure of Following God's Nudges

We have all felt nudges in our lives, in fact, we have even felt them from God. In "One Small Step: The Life-changing Adventure of Following God's Nudges", Matthew Barnett talks about these nudges from God. They are the ones that tell us to help someone out, even if you don't know them. Matthew Barnett followed one of these nudges when he opened the Dream Center in Los Angeles. In this center all are welcome who might need a place to stay. It doesn't matter what their background, they are welcome...free of charge. The nudges that we feel may not be as big as this but who knows where it will lead...God does.

I recommend this book so highly. I am a believer in God's nudges and when he does he gives you all that you need to fulfill it.
