The Girls from the Beach

I would like to thank NetGalley and Aria and Ares for giving me this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is a book about four war time nurses who disappeared for 5 days and how one has fought against the memories of that time.

This book is so well-written and kept me on my toes throughout the entire book. The characters were so well-developed that it was easy for me to become invested in each one. There is adventure throughout and I believe this book would be enjoyed by anyone that enjoys historical writing or likes adventures.

This book was excellent.

The Gilded Cage on the Bosphorus

I found the book, The Gilded Cage on the Bosphorus, to be an interesting book. It takes the reader into the lives of an imperial family in the Ottoman Empire. It helps to see their lives including their joys and their sadness. I have not read a book from this time period which includes these details.

At times I felt like I was reading a novel which says a lot about the author's, Ayse Ormanoglu, gift.

I recommend this book highly.

Catastrophes and Heroes

I am going to start off by saying Wow! This book is filled with true stories of catastrophes from around the world. I had not heard of most of them so I did a little research of my own and found out that each of these are amazing stories.

Each event includes an overview of the catastrophe as well as the people involved in the building of the items. How they took shortcuts, those that lost their lives or were injured and how others were able to take these events and make sure they did not happen again. Borrowman also included those that were the heroes in each.

I felt like this book opened my eyes to things I had never heard of before. It made me want to look into each one a little more.

Dinner with Edward

Once I was able to get into this book I found it to be a wonderful story. The author has a gift in the way she weaves her words together. Plus she inserts the occasional recipe for fun.

Other reviewers may not have been happy with the ending of the story but I found it made perfect sense to have it conclude this way. The relationship blossomed over time until it became just what the other one needed.

This was a lovely book.

Late to the Ball: A Journey into Tennis and Aging

Late to the Ball tells how a man in his 60s decided it was time to play tennis before he became too out of shape. He began by being fascinated in tennis, as I am, then he began the process of pushing his body to play. I found the book interesting and the author is able to share his experiences for those of us who may think about, or not, beginning to be fit as we age.

I enjoyed this book. This book was given to me by NetGalley and Scribner in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Sins of the Past

Sins of the Past consists of three mystery novellas. The first is Missing by Dee Henderson. Second is Shadowed by Dani Pettrey. Third is Blackout by Lynette Eason. I have read other books by Dee Henderson and Lynette Eason and have always been spell-bound. Now I will add Dani Pettrey as a Christian author of thrillers to add to my list.

All three of these stories kept me enthralled. The story lines are great, which is not always the case with novellas. They each have endings which will surprise along with a bit of romance.
