This book, The Other Side of Darkness, is a suspenseful book. Samantha is a D.A. who has a man who is threatening to kill her. This is only a part of her problems though. She is working hard to keep the man who threatened her in jail. Whether admitting it or not, Samantha is in need of a vacation in the country. Sam also needs to face the fact that she is her worst enemy when it comes to feeling happy and falling in love. 

I enjoyed this book. The characters and descriptions used throughout kept me involved and wanting to read more.

Book Review: A Harvest of Thorns

I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Many young women die in a garment factory fire in Bangladesh. In the aftermath a picture of a teenager is taken. This young girl has a fabric with Presto Omnishops Corporation on it. This is one of the largest retailers in America.
In its headquarters a man, Cameron Alexander, watches the news coverage of the incident. He watches at the picture of the girl is everywhere making people wonder about the ethics of the company. Alexander starts an investigation which will lead him down paths that could devastate his world.
A reporter, a year later, receives information about the company and the fire. This is all Joshua Griswold needs to cover a story that could save his career from former disgrace.
The story was developed well as the author begins with a central story and then builds each character from there. It is a sobering story that gives insight in the garment industry. The real world settings helped me to see the world in a different light.
A very good book.

Book Review: the Crush

In Sandra Brown's The Crush, Dr. Rennie Newton is on Ricky Lozada's jury. Lozada is a well-known hit man. However, the jury decides to vote not guilty. Soon it appears that she has a new admirer. One of her peers, also a rival, is murdered, and Rennie is a suspect. Then she becomes stalked by Lozado. Wick Threadgill is a detective that is after the killer and soon Wick and Rennie join forces.

So well-written that when i picked it up I did not want to set it down until I was finished and satisfied with the ending. I was thrilled that I was left to wonder how they would capture Lozado. and the characters were so wonderful. They would appear one way but then you saw the layers as the story progressed.

I must say that Brown was able to create a villain who was easy to hate. From the trial on, he was a character that I loved to hate.

I feel that if the reader is looking for a thrilling adventure, this is an excellent to try.

She has become one of my favorite authors. This book has love, sex, humor, and is a very fast read. I enjoyed it alot. Then I tried her other stuff but this is still my favorite book from Sandra Brown. I normally read paranormal romance so it's a great book to come back to reality.

Book Review: A Hiss Before Dying

A Hiss Before Dying is a cozy mystery in the Mrs. Murphy series.

During the Autumn, while the world is going about its normal routines of cleaning and preparing for winter, the annual rabbit hunt takes place. During this event the beagles and the hunters come up with a different find of find....a dead body.

Previously a missing truck driver's corpse was found, although it could not be identified. Where these too connected? Harry Haristeen finds some clues which go back to the area right after the Revolutionary War.

Through the help of the cats, Mrs. Murphy, Pewter, and Tucker, the mystery begins to unravel.

I enjoy reading about the likeable characters and the interesting parts about the history involved. I did not want to put this book down once I started.

Book Review: The History Major by Michael Phillip Cash

Amanda Greene, a college freshman, work up with a hangover, after having a huge fight with her boyfriend. When she wakes up her room seems the same but that is all. She has a different roommate, her class schedule is filled with classes she did not register for and all the people are acting strangely, however, they seem familiar. On top of this there is a shadow that seems to be stalking her. She is not sure what is or is going to happen next.

There are some books that are impossible to put down. I began reading this book on Saturday morning and I finished it that afternoon. I could not wait to see what would happen to Amanda next. This writer has such a gift. He kept me captive with the pace of the book and with allowing odd things to happen at good intervals. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

Book Review: Turbulence

This book, Turbulence by Alana Terry, is such a good book. I have had books before where I said I could not put them down, yet I did. Not this one, if I was awake I was reading it.

This is a part of a series, Kennedy Stern, however I was able to connect to the characters immediately. I do want to go back and read the others but I definitely was not lost. As the title suggests, most of this story takes place on an airplane, however the turbulence they experience is not weather related. There is a parent who is unhappy with school district decisions and saw hijacking the plane as the only way left to get his message across. Then as they restrain him, a bomb explodes. There is a lot of action throughout the book but there is also lessons of faith and the importance of witnessing throughout.

I related with the main character with my reluctance to witness at times, yet I want to see my friends and family throughout eternity. This book helps to see how to do this without seeming like a sermon.

I have read other books by Alana Terry and if I had to say which was my favorite, I couldn't. I love them all, this one is very much included in that.

Book Review: The Looming Storm

I loved this book. Once I opened the cover I had a hard time closing it again.

Eva Montanna, a federal agent for ICE, discovers something that could harm her family. She warns her daughter to be careful when she leaves on a class trip to Poland. Of course, the daughter finds danger and needs to be rescued. The action that follows through this book is wonderful. It never feels like it is just jumping from one event to another. Everything is tied up together so nicely. Plus the family places their faith and love of God before everything they do.

I want to just say Wow! I have not read other books by these authors but I will now.  Books that take my breath away and make me want to pray for the characters are the ones that I love the most.

Book Review: Mercy At Midnight

I know that if you have read my other entries you know that Sylvia Bambola is one of my favorite authors. This is a little different setting than others that I have read by her. This is set in today's time.

In Mercy At Midnight we are introduced to three different characters, then we are mesmerized by how their lives intersect and the consequences from their meeting.

First we have Cynthia Wells. She is a reporter who, while looking for a story, comes across so much more.

We then have Jonathan Holms. He is a pastor at a large church. God sends him to come to terms with a killer and the connection to him.

Finally, we have Stubby White. This is a man who cannot seem to help but have one bad turn after another. He turns to the mission where he has to decide which road to go down, the road to Gjod or the road he has the most experience with.

I always have a hard time putting books down by this author and this is no exception.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books filled with suspense.

Book Review: Poison

Poison is the second book of a trilogy. Having said this, I did not read the first book, yet I was able to keep up with names and the story. 

This is a book which has a lot of action and moves very quickly. The author, Jordyn Redwood, is a critical care and emergency nurse and she uses her gifts in the writing of this book as the book is set in the medical community.  This intense book is well-written, in fact, after reading it the reader may begin to look under their covers for the cause of the poison in the story. 

I feel like anyone who enjoys a good adventure story will thoroughly enjoy this book. I was given this book by bookfun.org and Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest review. 

You may feel black widow spiders crawling after reading this thriller by Jordyn Redwood!  Poison is another fast paced, action packed book in the Bloodline Trilogy.  Written by a nurse,  the plot includes the medical community, SWAT team, detectives, and psychiatrists.  Although you can read Poison as a stand alone, you will understand Poison better if you read book one, Proof, first.  The characters are very well-written.  I recommend Poison to anyone who enjoys intense adventure.  I was given the book by Book Fun (www.bookfun.org).  This is my honest opinion.

Book Review: The Babel Conspiracy

Sylvia Bambola has written another great book. The Babel Conspiracy is my fourth book that I have read of this talented lady.

She has such a gift with words that they bring me right into the story as she tells it. Trisha, one of the main characters in the book is a Christian, however, like all of us, she is faced with temptation when she falls for a married man. She fights the temptation and turns to her work. Her job is to build the first nuclear powered aircraft. She remains strong in her faith.

Each of Sylvia Bambola's books are so different. This one deals with the political and spiritual atmosphere of the world.

I cannot give enough praise for this book. It is definitely one that I will treasure.

Book Review: Hidden Agenda

Hidden Agenda  is a suspense novel with a romantic and Christian twist. I read this series out of order. This is the third book in the series and I read it second. Still I would be able to follow along without reading the first, and definitely the second, ones first.  However, after reading this one, I would not recommend going back to the others as this book concludes some story lines. 

There are tensions throughout this book, both from danger and relationships. Faith is definitely a part of their decisions along the way. I would recommend this book, especially to those than enjoy suspense.

Ronald Glanz has written another book that will keep the reader on their toes. This book, PDQ, revolves around robberies and murders that have occurred at a few convenience stores in Madison, Wisconsin. Detectives Schultz and Finney are assigned to this case and their investigation takes some unpredictable twists and turns until they finally solve it.

I have become a Ronald Glanz fan with previous books that I have read. I look forward to his books to keep me on the edge of my chair and to grab my attention and keep it to the end.

Book Review: Ashes in the Wind by Peggy Levesque

Sara’s life was turned upside down when her husband, a DEA agent, was killed. She was placed in witness protection, but that did not work, as someone tried to shoot her. With a myriad of other actions aimed at her and her late-husband, Sara did not know who to trust.

This is a suspenseful, action-packed book that was very hard for me to put down. Peggy Levesque, the author of Ashes in the Wind, is a talented writer and I look forward to anything else that she may write. I recommend this book highly.

Book Review: Fatal Exchange by Lisa Harris

Fatal Exchange, by Lisa Harris, is a modern-day suspense novel. Before beginning this book, find a comfortable seat and a nice cup of a favorite beverage, because once you begin to read this you will want to stay with it to the end.

Emily Hunt’s brother, a police officer, was killed. Whereby Emily and her family have their own suspect, it needs to be proven. The path that this book takes you on will keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

This is a very good book and I look forward to reading more by this author.
