The Sheila Stories 1935 - 2005 by Patrick Kelly

A single father in Australia, worried that his daughters are not going to have a female influence in their lives creates The Sheila Stories.
These are wonderful stories which pulled at my heart. It was a hard book to put down. The characters were well written and drew me into the story, especially Sheila. The writer, Patrick Kelly is also able to paint a picture so I felt like I was there in the middle of everything.
I can see me reading these stories to my grandchildren when I visit them. Thank you for this wonderful set of stories.

Book Review: Stories for the 12 Days of Christmas

I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This is such a nice way to read Christmas stories. Linda Mansfield introduces the book by letting the reader know there isn't a wrong way to read this book. You could read one a day, or the whole book at once. Each story is separate from the others, they are all short, and realistic.
I could see myself taking this book when I am going to have to wait for something. I could easily read one of the stories in that time. I caught myself smiling at some of them, plus they helped to remind me what Christmas is truly about.
It would be a great gift for anyone, or purchase one for yourself.

Book Review: Once Upon a Christmas Rosanne Croft, Linda Reinhardt, Sharon Bernash Smith

I am embarrassed to say that I found this little jewel in my list of book I have already read. I guess I forgot to review it when I finished. 

Once Upon A Christmas  is a charming collection of 55 short stories written by Rosanne Croft, Linda Reinhardt and Sharon Bernash Smith. Each of stories are centered around Christ and the Christmas season. The stories also range from the 18th century to the present time and from a variety of countries. These were enchanting books to read at the holidays and I would recommend it to any lovers of that season.

Book Review: Thirteen Ways of Looking Colum McCann

This is a collection of four short stories by Colum McCann. Each is as good as the others. The characters are all well-developed, which does not always happen with short stories.

McCann has such a lyrical way of writing that help to keep the reader involved in these dark stories. It was so wonderful to see where each of the stories was heading, even if the characters did not.

Book Review: Wishes For Christmas by Fern Michaels

Fern Michaels, the author of Wishes for Christmas, writes very enjoyable romance novels. When I saw this book at NetGalley, I wanted to read it. This book consists of short stories and the characters in each one came from her other works. Because they were short stories they were not filled with the details that are usually a part of her novels. However, these books are still very enjoyable. This makes a nice book to read to find, or feel, that Christmas feeling, no matter what time of the year.
