The Sheila Stories 1935 - 2005 by Patrick Kelly

The Sheila Stories: 1935 - 2005 by [Kelly, Patrick]A single father in Australia, worried that his daughters are not going to have a female influence in their lives creates The Sheila Stories.
These are wonderful stories which pulled at my heart. It was a hard book to put down. The characters were well written and drew me into the story, especially Sheila. The writer, Patrick Kelly is also able to paint a picture so I felt like I was there in the middle of everything.
I can see me reading these stories to my grandchildren when I visit them. Thank you for this wonderful set of stories.
I was given this book by NetGalley and BooksGoSocial in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much. This book will be kept and re-read many times. Highest praise and recommendation.

Book Review: The Dressmaker

Tilly Dunnage is coming back to Australia after spending years working in dressmaking shops in Paris. While on her trip, which was only suppose to be a short one, she plans on visiting her mother, who is ill and then going back to Paris. Not exactly welcomed in her town, her dresses open many doors, including one to friendship with Sergeant Farrat, and one with Teddy, who is also not favored by the town.

I enjoyed reading this book. The author, Rosalie Ham, did a good job creating characters which were intriguing, including the towns people, complete with their own problems. I found this to be a book that I was able to read quickly but wanted it to go on and on. To me this is a sign of a good book.

I was given this book by NetGalley and  Penguin Group Penguin in exchange for my honest review.
