Book Review: English Lessons: The Crooked Little Grace-Filled Path of Growing Up

English Lessons is a memoir by Andrea Lucado, the daughter of Max Lucado. It tells of her path to finding answers to some important questions such as Who am I? Who is God?

I felt like this book spoke to my heart. When I first received it, I thought I would try it because I have always liked her father's works. But I also had doubts. This is a very personal story for her as she went off to Oxford and while there she shares the new view she discovered while there.

I felt her laughter and doubts through the book and rejoiced when she made discoveries. 

This is an excellent book for all who are looking for their own answers.

Book Review: The Tank Man's Son

Mark Bouman is a loving father, husband and a Christian. Each of these are hard to imagine when reflecting on the difficult life he had as he was growing up. He became the tank man's son when his father brought home a true tank. This is a man who was liked to collect "toys" like these and he was not afraid to let his anger out on his family.

The reader will find their heart breaking as they read this account, yet filling again as they see how this boy was able to find Christ and how this faith saved his life.

I thought that I would have a difficult time reading this book but I am so glad that I stayed with it and finished it.

Book Review: wild in the Hollow: on Chasing Desire and Finding the Broken Way Home

Quite often, when I receive a book for review, I will place it on the shelf to be read in order. I did that with this book and I wish I did not. This book left me feeling so refreshed.

The author, Amber C. Haines shares her story with God. she tells about how God never leaves her no matter how many times she may been saved. She shares her story, honestly and openly in a world where these things are not shared often enough. Through her story the reader is able to see God's love no matter how many time we fall. Even if we turn our back on God, He is always there for us. 

To experience God's love through another's story, this is the book to read. I was given this book by Revell books and the author in exchange for my honest review.
