Book Review: One: Impossible Starts Here

The authors of One: Impossible Starts Here, Gwen Oatsvall and Suzanne Mayernick were adopting children when they met each other. Between them they are proof that God's love can give them inspiration and faith they needed, plus the never ending love to  bring them to a total of 13 children and seven adoptions. These two came together through God's love and his desire to have them serve as missionaries in this way.

They also created an organization called 147 Million Orphans to help children who need help because of vulnerability.

This is such an inspiring book which makes you believe that God will always help you meet the challenges that He places in front of him.

I loved this book and am so glad that I was given this book by NetGalley and B & H Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

Book Review: All Right Here

All Right Here by Carre Armstrong Gardner is a touching book about a couple that would like to have a child, but are unable to. When three children are abandoned, the couple takes them into their home. Along with this decision, the family comes across many unexpected trials in their lives such as alcoholism and the challenges that come with teenagers.

This was a touching, wonderful book that I did not want to end. The blessing is there are to be more books in this series revolving around the extended family.

A Starfish at a Time by Dana Wynn Steele

Dana Wynn Steele, and her husband, share their lives with others as they show that love is not bound by biology or by others. Through marriage and adoption they grew their family to 19.

If Dana were asked to foster a child, she did not look at physical or social difficulties. Instead she would turn to the Lord and see how she can help the child out. No matter what their background, Dana and her husband are able to make a positive difference in each of the children’s lives.

The title of the book, “A Starfish at a Time,” comes from the story of a child, by the seashore where there were hundreds of starfish, throwing one starfish at a time into the sea. When a passerby informed the boy that he would never be able to save all of the starfish, the boy told him that it made a difference to each one that he saved.

This story reflects the lives of this family. Each one will learn from the time together as a family that they can make a difference, one person at a time.
