Book Review: The First Christmas Carol: A Miser, A Manger, A Miracle

Before we begin, The Christmas Carol is a touchy subject in my house. To my husband, it is not Christmas without it and yet, I could easily do without it. This version is the exception to my rule.

This insightful book takes place at Jesus's birth. The innkeeper is the miser, however, I felt that word was almost too nice for him. He almost seemed heartless, worse than Scrooge. But through the miracles of Christ's birth he was changed.

The characters were so well written. I almost did not want to read it because the innkeeper was so hateful, but I knew, from the Dicken's tale that there would be a reversal to his story.

Such a wonderful book and story I would highly recommend it to all of my friends, family and all.

Children's book review: Tales from Christmas Wood

This is a charming book of five stories that fit together to create a sixth one. In the town of Christmas Wood lives a group of animals. Badger, who loved the town from first glance, decides to live there. This friendly little animal has one thing which keeps others from being friends with her, her teeth. Each of the stories tell about how the animals come to be her friends and welcome her into their community.  The sixth story has all of the animals gathered together for Jesus' birth.

I loved this book, each story touched a part of my heart. The illustrations are perfect for the story and I believe all children will want to look at this book again and again. I would highly recommend this book to all.

Book Review: The Little Christmas Tree

The Little Christmas Tree begins with a storm coming to the woods. All of the larger trees decide to fight the storm but the little fir tree knows that it would do a better job being a shelter to the animals. During this time a baby was born and when the stars celebrate they come and settle on the little tree.

What a wonderful book about doing good for others, without expecting a reward. I believe that the smallest child can begin to understand this lesson. What a beautiful book to read to young children or for families to read together.

Book Review: Wonder of Wonders by Keith Wall

Wonder of Wonders uses the Christmas story to lead the reader through 25 days of finding the Glory of God in their life. This book works best if started on the first day of December and then read through each day. It leads the reader through the events and people that make up this moment.
Keith Wall put together a wonderful collection in this book, which can be used year after year to help the Christmas season come to life in a special way.
