Cookbook review: Green Smoothies

Smoothies are wonderful, not matter the time of year. This book is filled with recipes to make smoothies, juices, nut milks and tonics. The pictures that go with the recipes are so well done that they look like they could be lifted off of the page and drank.

Each of the recipes are easy to make with step-by-step guidance. Included are recipes for Coconut Kale and Popeye's juice and more.

I think this book will be useful in my household for years to come and I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys drinking and making nice, healthy drinks.

I was given this book by NetGalley and Ten Speed Press in exchange for my honest review.

Cookbook review: Near and Far

Near and Far: Recipes inspired by home and travel is filled with enjoyable vegetarian recipes. The photography throughout this book helps the reader to understand how the recipe looks when it is finished.

Each page is filled with information that helps to bring a sense of the goodness of the recipes to the mind. There is not one recipe in this book that I did not feel that I could create myself and the descriptions used to share each of Heidi Swanson's experiences made me feel like I wanted to be a part of this world.

Whether the consumer is a vegetarian or someone that would like to eat healthier, this cookbook should be one place to begin this journey.

Cookbook review: Lighten up, y'all

Lighten Up, Y'all by Oh, my. Lighten up, y'all: Classic Southern Recipes made Healthy and Wholesome is filled with comfort foods that maintain their taste and vision in spite of being redone in a healthy manner.

Virginia Willis has written other cookbooks, plus she is a blogger of Down-Home Comfort where she shares cooking with Food Network and the Cooking Channel. She has also made many guest appearances, been a director and a producer of different cooking shows. She is able to draw on all of the experience in this book to help the reader to enjoy the foods they have always enjoyed while maintaining a healthy diet.

This cookbook includes favorites such as Sinless Seven-Layer Dip, Barbeque Meatballs, Sassy Slaw, plus many recipes with starch, seafood, shellfish, poultry, pork, beef, lamb and, of course deserts.

I feel like I was very privileged to be given this wonderful cookbook to review by the author, Crown Publishing, Ten Speed Press and Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.
