Salad Love by David Bez

Salad Love by David Bez is a wonderful book full of easy to make salads for all kind of tastes. Through a personal challenge he set forth for himself, he created 260 salad recipes which he was able to create at his work desk.

I am a salad lover but I do have a tendency to get in a rut and create the same salad day after day. With this book included on my cookbook shelf I will be able to awaken by taste buds with ingredients such as prusciutto, nasturtiums, roasted eggplant and so much more. It is also divided into seasonal sections of items that are in season. This makes it so much easier to find ingredients when preparing a salad.

Mr. Bez has included within this book separate sections on the salad base, proteins, vegetables and fruits, toppings and herbs. He also includes various ideas for dressings and spices. Plus each recipe includes a picture of the finished product which he photographed immediately before he ate the creation.

I have began to use some of the recipes and cannot wait to continue on.

Recipes for a Beautiful Life : A Memoir in Stories by Rebecca Barry is a wonderful, funny, touching, heartwarming collection of her journal entries from her own life. She shares the difficulties of moving into an older house and fixing it up, raising a family as it and various relationships in her life continuously change.

Book Review: Making Marion

Making Marion by Beth Moran

I first requested this book because of the title. Making Marion: Where’s Robin Hood when you need him. Any book that has to do with jolly, old England pulls me in. This book did not disappoint.

Marion Miller comes to the Peace and Pigs caravan park to find directions to the Sherwood Forest. Marion is barely able to put enough words together to form a sentence and because of this a funny string of events follows beginning with her being offered a job at the park by the loving, quirky owner. Along the way, the reader is told the story of Marion’s life and is given insight into what has made her the young lady she is today. The reader is treated to heart-wrenching and heart-warming stories throughout the book.

This is the first book, but definitely not the last, that I have read by the author. Her style is easy enough to draw the reader in and fascinating enough to keep the reader reading.

Book review: The Postage Stamp Garden

The Postage Stamp Garden is a wonderful resource for anyone who feels like they do not have enough space for a garden. There are different layouts, companion plants, how many plants suggested per person. It is well organized so any information needed is at the fingertips. 
I recommend this to anyone that enjoys eating fresh produce.

Book Review: The Allergy-Fighting Garden

The Allergy-Fighting Garden, by Thomas Leo Ogren is a great reference book for anyone that has, or knows someone that has allergies. He begins by explaining the issues that come into creating a allergy-fighting garden. This includes the importance of the sex of a plant and the location of the plants. Then he talks about how to rid an area of mold spores and how to take the fight against sllergies into the communty. 

This is a well-written book that explains each aspect in terms that every reader can understand. I look forward to using this book as I settle in my new home and begin landscaping my yard. I would recommend this book for everyone.

Book Review: The Heavenly Man

I was very excited to read this book as I have heard about Brother Yun but had not read his story. Brother Yun received Christ when he was a young man and from the time of his acceptance he had repeated visions from God. When he faced imprisonment and torture for his belief he would come out of it praising God all the louder.

Written from his perspective, with assistance from Paul Hattaway, this book opens the eyes of Christians everywhere of how a journey with God may not always be easy, but it is always rewarding. The Ride of Your Life: What I Learned About God, Love and Adventure by Teaching My Son to Ride A Bike

Parents have good and scary memories of teaching their children how to ride a bike. Mike Howerton is able to take these memories and reflect on the Christian's journey. From the first trip going alongside a child, to seeing the child take a spill, to the point where they are able to ride off to the future, Howerton is able to make five lessons that help each of us to see where we are in our journey and to see what we can do to help reach the feeling of freedom when we are successful.

This is a wonderful book, and Howerton has such a great way of writing these lessons so that the reader can feel what he is trying to say with ease.
